A team of Gleiss Lutz lawyers advised the shareholders of teamtechnik Maschinen und Anlagen GmbH, a leading global automation specialist, on the sale of a majority shareholding to the Dürr Group. The parties have agreed to keep the purchase price confidential. The transaction is expected to close in February 2021 and is subject to customary approval by the authorities.
teamtechnik was founded in 976 in Freiberg near Stuttgart and has around 730 employees at four sites in Germany, the US and China. In 2019 the company generated sales of around EUR 155 million, with roughly 60% of this attributable to e-mobility. In this area, teamtechnik primarily offers systems for testing fully assembled electric and hybrid drives at the end of the line. In addition, it supplies technologies for the automated production of battery modules and packs for electric vehicles. teamtechnik already generates 20 percent of its sales from the medical technology sector, where it has established itself in recent years as a system supplier. For example, injection systems, inhalators or infusion sets as well as contact lenses are produced in a fully automated manner with teamtechnik solutions. Some 20 percent of its sales come from service and other business.
The Dürr Group is a leading global mechanical and plant engineering firm with pronounced expertise in automation and digitalisation/Industry 4.0. Its products, systems and services make it possible to develop highly efficient production processes in different industries. The Dürr Group supplies sectors like the automotive industry, mechanical engineering as well as the chemical, pharmaceutical and woodworking industries. It generated sales of EUR 3.92 billion in 2019. The company employs around 16,200 persons and has 112 sites in 33 countries.
