Gleiss Lutz won the “Top Legal Firm for Metaverse/Web 3.0 Businesses" category at the 1st European Metaverse Summit & Awards in Berlin on 27 October. These new awards recognise innovative projects and players in the metaverse ecosystem.
Gleiss Lutz became the first leading German business law firm to open an office in the metaverse in July 2022. The firm deals extensively with the variety of interdisciplinary issues that arise in the metaverse, both when working with clients and through legal articles and presentations. “We are very happy to receive this award and consider it further evidence of our thought leadership on key future trends," commented Prof. Dr. Eric Wagner, resident partner at the firm's metaverse office. “With our virtual office, we are perfectly placed to advise on the wide range of new legal issues raised by the metaverse, while ensuring that we remain accessible to our clients," added Dr. Moritz Holm-Hadulla, head of the Digital Economy industry group.
Prof. Dr. Michael Arnold, co-managing partner at Gleiss Lutz, said: “The early and innovative development of key future trends is one of our firm's central maxims. We are delighted to receive this recognition for our metaverse initiative."
“Our clients are benefiting from the substantial expansion of our legal tech expertise – which has won multiple awards in recent years – and our expertise of the metaverse is no exception," commented Marc Geiger, Director Legal Operations & Business Technologies. Gleiss Lutz's metaverse initiative was created by its internal think tank together with its Legal Tech team and implemented with the Digital Economy industry group.
The European Metaverse Summit & Awards is organised by the American publishing house CEE Business Media. The winners were chosen based on the votes cast by a 28-member VIP jury combined with a popular vote from all attendees.
