Gleiss Lutz has advised Kolbus GmbH & Co. KG on the sale of its book binding business to the Swiss Müller Martini Group. The business unit was carved-out by Kolbus before being sold to Müller Martini Buchbinde-Systeme GmbH, which will continue the operations at the existing facilities.
At its four sites in Rahden, Gerabronn, (Baden-Württemberg, Germany), Krostitz (Sachsen, Germany) and Kalamazoo (Michigan, USA), Kolbus GmbH & Co. KG, which is headquartered in Rahden (Ostwestfalen, Germany), produces a broad range of casemakers and machine modules for rigid cardboard and paper packaging. The company also has a state-of-the-art production facility with a foundry and machining shop and is a longstanding supplier to the high-tech mechanical engineering sector in Germany and beyond.
Established in 1946, family-run business Müller Martini is headquartered in Zofingen, Switzerland. It has 1,800 employees and specializes in the development and production of industrial print finishing systems. The entire range of graphical publications worldwide, from softcover and hardcover books, magazines, catalogues, to mailings and newspapers are produced using Müller Martini technology.
