Corporate laterals to join new Gleiss Lutz office in Düsseldorf

Gleiss Lutz will be opening its new office in Düsseldorf in August 2009 with two new additions to its corporate practice. Lateral hires Dr. Thomas Menke and Martin Hitzer will form part of the core team including longstanding Gleiss Lutz corporate partners Dr. Stefan Mutter and Dr. Alexander Schwarz. The patent law practice with partners Dr. Thomas Bopp and Dr. Matthias Sonntag will form the second strong pillar of the new office.

Dr. Thomas Menke joins from Baker & McKenzie where he is an international partner in their Düsseldorf office. He specialises in international mergers and acquisitions as well as real estate transactions. Dr. Menke will be joining Gleiss Lutz as a partner.

Additional support will be provided by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer principal associate Martin Hitzer, who has ample experience in corporate/M&A. He will be joining the Düsseldorf office as an associated partner.

Dr. Rainer Loges, managing partner at Gleiss Lutz comments: "Dr. Thomas Menke and Martin Hitzer have extensive experience in corporate/M&A and are very familiar with the Düsseldorf market. Both lawyers will complement our start-up team very well and with them on board we will enter the market with a powerful team."

"Hardly any other major law firm in Germany has such a large and strong team of young, well-respected partners, particularly in the area of corporate law", says Dr. Thomas Menke. "Helping to establish this new office and making it a success is a tremendously appealing challenge."
