In February the platform W@Competition published for the first time a list of the top 30 notable women competition professionals in Europe, aged 39 and younger. Not one, but two Gleiss Lutz lawyers were singled out for distinction, namely Dr. Iris Benedikt-Buckenleib and Dr. Ines Bodenstein.
Dr. Iris Benedikt-Buckenleib (Counsel, Munich) and Dr. Ines Bodenstein (Counsel, Stuttgart) advise on German and European competition law. Dr. Iris Benedikt-Buckenleib specialises on questions relating to German and European merger control and has advised German and foreign companies in a large number of national and multinational transactions over recent years. Her focus also includes cartel investigations, distribution cartel law and antitrust compliance. Dr. Ines Bodenstein advises in cartel fines proceedings, antitrust damages actions and distribution cartel law. She is also involved in major e-commerce-related cases. Compliance, including internal investigations, is a further focus of hers.
W@Competition is a platform for competition professionals, especially lawyers. With events, conferences/forums and publications, the platform seeks to enhance the visibility of women in this area of law and at the same time offers the opportunity for an open dialogue within the network. The list of “30 in their 30s’ notable women competition professionals” was drawn up by an independent jury based on anonymised nominations.
Dr. Ingo Brinker, head of the competition/antitrust practice group, expressed his delight at the awards: “With their profound knowledge of competition law, their eye for detail in casework and their untiring commitment to their clients, Iris Benedikt-Buckenleib and Ines Bodenstein are a huge asset to the team. I am very happy that their excellent work has received this recognition.”
As one of the leading competition practices globally, the GL team has for many decades been involved nationally and internationally in all important developments and proceedings in competition/antitrust law.
