JUVE Awards 2009: Two accolades for Gleiss Lutz

At the JUVE Awards 2009, which were presented on October 29 in Frankfurt, Gleiss Lutz received the award as law firm of the year in the “Public Sector” category. In addition, the firm was also honoured as “Law firm of the year for public procurement law”.

Each year the legal publisher JUVE bestows this award on legal teams that stand out for their expertise, strategic and service-oriented approach, and potential for the future. The award is given on the basis of extensive research by the editorial staff – the main factor is the opinion of clients and competitors.

In presenting the award in the Public Sector category, JUVE referred to Gleiss Lutz’ “top-flight advising in the area of public commercial law” and called the law firm a “top address for administrative and constitutional law disputes”. According to JUVE, what is particularly impressive is how “younger partners have significantly contributed to the law firm’s reputation with their know-how”. This reflects the firm’s dynamic growth, which has also become apparent in other practice areas.

Gleiss Lutz’ public sector specialists have been involved in a number of important cases and landmark decisions during the past year; this included, for example, the advising of General Motors/Opel, Qimonda and Commerzbank in connection with national emergency support measures in the financial crisis.

In the area of public procurement, the law firm impressed with its advising of general health insurance funds (AOKs) in connection with the successful tendering of drug discount agreements as well as its advising on the revitalisation of the city centre in the town of Hanau in Hessau, currently the largest German urban planning project.

At the beginning of 2009 Gleiss Lutz was already honoured as “Law Firm of the Year Germany” by the British handbook PLC Which lawyer?.
