British industry publication IFLR (International Financial Law Review) has honored the Adler Group restructuring as the “Impact Deal of the Year" at the IFLR European Awards 2025, held in London.
Gleiss Lutz has advised the ad hoc group of noteholders of Adler Group S.A. on the German-law aspects and consequences in connection with the successful appeal against the restructuring plan. Adler’s restructuring plan was challenged before the Court of Appeal, whose decision was to overturn the High Court’s sanction of the original plan. The case represents the first-ever review by the Court of Appeal of the new English restructuring plan and the resulting judgement provides foundational guidance for restructuring professionals on the application and implications of the English restructuring plan and cross-class cram down power.
IFLR's awards are unique in the market for focusing on legal innovation through dealmaking and celebrating work that improves the cross-border investment environment. This year marks 26 years of recognizing legal innovation.
Andreas Spahlinger, Gleiss Lutz partner and head of the restructuring practice, commented: “The award demonstrates that clients and industry insiders alike value our legal advice and support in major and challenging matters. We see this as confirmation of our focus on providing legal excellence in close cooperation with other leading law firms in other jurisdictions at the forefront of cross-border restructuring and insolvency cases. A fantastic team effort!”
