Gleiss Lutz has assisted KIK Custom Products, Inc. with the acquisition of the Consumer Products business of the US chemicals company Chemtura Corporation. The purchase price is USD 315 million.
KIK Custom Products is one of North America’s largest contract manufacturers of consumer products. Headquartered in Canada, it is a portfolio company of the US private equity firm CI Capital Partners. A US team of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison acted as lead counsel for KIK.
Chemtura Corporation is a global manufacturer of speciality chemicals, and is listed on both the New York Stock Exchange and Euronext Paris (CHMT). Its Consumer Products business specialises in developing and marketing water treatment products for pools and spas under the name Bayrol in Europe and BioLab in North America. The acquisition is subject to the approval of the regulatory authorities and expected to close at the end of 2013.
