A Gleiss Lutz team provided legal services to the Cologne/Bonn Airport on a EUR 100 million financing. The capital will be provided by several commercial banks as part of the “NRW.BANK.Infrastruktur Corona” programme of NRW.BANK. The loans provided within the framework of this programme will serve to cover the short-term need for operating resources of the public and/or social infrastructure in North Rhine-Westphalia owing to the coronavirus pandemic.
The airport is one the most important commercial airports in Germany. In 2018 it had 12.96 million passengers, putting it in sixth place in Germany. With regard to cargo, with 860,000 tonnes of air cargo (2018), the airport ranked third among the cargo airports in Germany and sixth in Europe.
