Expansion of strategically important practices and offices: Gleiss Lutz appoints five partners and seven counsel

Gleiss Lutz has appointed five partners and seven counsel as of 1 January 2019, thus strengthening the full service the law firm offers and the advice it provides on complex interdisciplinary topics. Dr. Rut Steinhauser (Employment, Berlin), Dr. Alexander Fritzsche (Competition/Antitrust, Frankfurt), Dr. Christian Hamann (Data Protection, Berlin), Dr. Tobias Harzenetter (Corporate, Munich) and Dr. Alexander Molle (IP/IT, Berlin) will become partners. Muriel Kaufmann (Stuttgart), Dr. Tobias Abend (Frankfurt, both Employment), Dr. Enno Burk (Healthcare, Berlin), Dr. Fabian Kutz (Corporate, Hamburg), Dr. Alexander Nagel (Restructurings), Marcel Pemsel (Trademarks) and Dr. Simon Wagner (Product Liability, all Stuttgart) have been appointed counsel.

Further development of the full service Gleiss Lutz offers in digital transformation
Gleiss Lutz as a whole, and the Berlin office in particular, is pressing forward as it positions itself to advise on digital transformation issues such as data protection and IT law. The law firm's respected IT practice will be strengthened by two new partners, data protection expert Dr. Christian Hamann and IT law specialist Dr. Alexander Molle; as counsel, Dr. Enno Burk will complement the practice's profile with his focus on digital projects in healthcare law. In employment too, Gleiss Lutz will expand its advice on Work 4.0 and employee data protection with Dr. Rut Steinhauser (Berlin) and Muriel Kaufmann (Stuttgart).

Frankfurt: respected M&A, Competition/Antitrust, and Employment teams strengthened
Major practices will be expanded at the Frankfurt office. New competition/antitrust partner Dr. Alexander Fritzsche has a strong focus on digital markets. In addition, two M&A partners who have worked in Stuttgart to date will in future split their time between Stuttgart and Frankfurt: Dr. Christian Cascante will be strengthening the private equity practice, Dr. Michael Burian the M&A team with regard to business in Asia. In employment, new counsel Dr. Tobias Abend will work where Gleiss Lutz's bank-related full service interfaces with banking regulatory advice.

Additions to the Hamburg office team
Gleiss Lutz will continue to strengthen the Hamburg office from within the law firm's own ranks. The plan involves corporate partner Dr. Johannes Niewerth moving to Hamburg, where he will focus on real estate with new counsel Dr. Fabian Kutz. In M&A and private equity, the Hamburg team has already been expanded in 2018 by Jan Philipp Mohr (Corporate/M&A) moving to the office.

Further strengthening of key practices
The Corporate/M&A practice group at the Munich office will include new partner Dr. Tobias Harzenetter. He is a proven expert on the insurance sector and the challenges it faces in the digital age. At the Stuttgart office, two new counsel will augment key practices, Marcel Pemsel in Trademarks and Dr. Simon Wagner in Product Liability. At the Düsseldorf office, Dr. Alexander Nagel has been appointed counsel in the area of restructuring.
