At this year’s Europe Women in Business Law Awards, the Euromoney Legal Media Group awarded Gleiss Lutz the title of “Best firm in Germany”. “Diversity is very important to Gleiss Lutz. We are delighted that our commitment has been acknowledged in this way,” says Doris-Maria Schuster, partner, who accepted the award together with Andrea Leufgen, partner, on behalf of Gleiss Lutz on 15 June in London.
Gleiss Lutz launched its “Women in Business” initiative at the start of 2013. This follows a three-pillar approach and is aimed at female law students, female lawyers already at Gleiss Lutz and female clients. With this initiative, the firm specifically promotes the advancement of promising young female lawyers and supports them in creating and expanding professional and personal networks.
Last year, the initiative focussed in particular on the advancement of the firm’s female lawyers. This included special programmes aimed at female associates, such as targeted training sessions and regular roundtable discussions on selected topics with female partners and management. For its efforts, Euromoney also nominated Gleiss Lutz in the category “Best gender diversity initiative by national firm”.
“The issue of diversity is of central strategic importance to us”, explained Dr. Alexander Schwarz, Co-Managing Partner of the firm. “It is not for nothing that Gleiss Lutz was the first major German law firm to introduce a part-time partner track.”
This is already the third award received by the firm for its commitment to diversity. In 2014, the firm was honoured twice at the Europe Women in Business Law Awards.
